Billie Kress Eagle Release
On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, we were honored to release an eagle in memory of Irene “Billie” Kress, a longtime environmental advocate and community philanthropist.
The Kress family has been tremendously generous and supportive of the Wildlife Sanctuary for decades. Contributions such as the Kress Overlook and the current Natural Expansion are but a few of the projects gifted to the Wildlife Sanctuary by the Kress family for the benefit of our community.
Watch the eagle release below, read Director Mike Reed’s remarks and see photos of the special event!

Remarks by Mike Reed, Director of the Wildlife Sanctuary
Irene “Billie” Daniell Kress’ generosity left her mark on educational, environmental, and especially family and children’s organizations throughout the Green Bay community for decades. There was never any pomp and circumstance with her or her family. Billie invested in her vision of a better tomorrow.
Her spirit continues through her children who honor her well as they continue to make a difference in our community. Through the Kress Family Foundation and John Kress, the children of our Nature-based 4K will see new classrooms allowing more children to benefit from this extraordinary educational experience. Billie loved Dr. Seuss, and I think this quote from The Lorax describes Billie’s spirit and her legacy:
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
Irene “Billie” Daniell Kress cared “a whole awful lot.”
