Employment Information

Green Bay Metro Fire Department is the third largest fire department in the State of Wisconsin. We serve a fast growing area, including the communities of the City of Green Bay, Village of Allouez, and the Village of Bellevue. Our department currently employs over 220 men and women and our suppression (Operations Division) staff are assigned to one of three 24-hour shifts that, when computed over a 27-day period as required by the Fair Labor Standards Act, averages 53 hours per week.

Below are the current minimum requirements for a Firefighter position:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate Degree in Fire Science.
  • Current EMT-Basic certification.
  • Current certification as a Fire Fighter II by the State of Wisconsin or an IFSAC accredited agency.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
