Electronics Recycling Drive

Several times a year Friends of the Wildlife Sanctuary and Norsec Computer Recyclers hold an Electronics Recycling Drive at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. Norsec Computer Recyclers LLC provides an environmentally responsible solution to electronics disposal needs. Click Electronics Recycling Drive for more information.

Drop off old TVs, computer equipment (monitors, CPUs, mice, keyboards, fax, printers, network equipment and any standard office equipment), household electronics such as CD, DVD, and VHS players, stereo equipment, vacuums, clocks, Satellite receivers, phone systems, cell phones, game consoles, household appliances like microwaves, washers, dryers, refrigerators, dehumidifiers & stoves. We also recycle Lead acid, Nickel Cadmium and Lithium Ion batteries. Basically if it plugs into a wall, we can recycle it. However, they do not accept dry cell batteries, or florescent light bulbs.

Friday, April 22 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm
Saturday, April 23 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Location: The drop off area will be the lower lot of the Nature Center at the Wildlife Sanctuary
Fees:
Items subject to charge, since they contain hazardous materials, include:
– Computer monitors $5.00 each
– Televisions $10.00 each

All fees benefit the Friends of the Wildlife Sanctuary!

All other standard computer components and household appliances are recycled at no charge, including appliances that contain Freon.

Frosty Family Fun Night

Live animal friends, night walks, horse drawn wagon rides, bonfire and s’mores, crafts, chocolate dipping, kids games, live folk music!

Earth Day Celebration

Many activities, like Critter Counter open, Used Battery Drop-off, Animal Release, Otter Odyssey, Quill Thrills, Fox Trots, Wolf viewing, Question and Answer, Bird of Prey Tour, and more!

Spring’s Wings Migratory Bird Festival

Big Bay Birdathon and Photography Contest

Big Bay Birdathon

You will have 24 hours to travel anywhere throughout Wisconsin with your team in search of birds. Like a scavenger hunt, the Birdathon consists of finding and counting bird species. The proceeds go toward bird conservation and education programs.  Click Birdathon Brochure for more information.

Big Bay Photography Contest

10th Annual Walk for Wildlife

September 19, 2015.  Walkers are invited to enjoy 2.5 miles of scenic trails. Live animal stations are found throughout the walk. They include Sanctuary animal ambassadors, artifacts, and educational information about the animals. All participants are invited to enjoy refreshments before and after the walk. Join us for the 10th year! The year of the FOX!

Autumn Adventure

Join the Thursday Morning Breakfast Optimist Club for Kid’s Autumn Adventure at the Wildlife Sanctuary. There will be lots of fun activities for kids and their parents. The Optimists will also be serving FREE lunch! All ages are welcome and all activities are FREE!

Annual Halloween Event

The 21st Annual Halloween Event will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.  This is a fun family event suitable for all ages. Kids are welcome to come in their costumes!

Our event includes a pumpkin lit walk through a darkened Nature Center where participants will encounter various animals portrayed by area youth. These animal characters will educate you about themselves and their wild ways in a fun and light-hearted way.

Call 920-391-3671 to reserve a time slot starting at 6pm.    $2.50 per child and $3.75 per adult

We are always looking for youth volunteers to be a part of this event–please contact Kim Diedrich at (920) 391-3677 if you are interested.  Rehearsals are typically once a week starting in September.
